ArtInsights Gallery of Film and Contemporary Art
Leslie has worked in the film art and animation art industry since her early 20s, back when only five animation art galleries existed in the world. In 1994, she founded ArtInsights Gallery of Film and Contemporary Art with Michael Barry, her husband. Twenty-five years later, ArtInsights has grown into a thriving gallery specializing in rare film production art, campaign art, and animation concept art, as well as original art by artists who work inside the film industry. Collectors from across the world come to view and purchase these treasures in person. They also work with Leslie through the emails and phone calls. These are personal art consulting sessions in which she targets interest and builds collections with rare, exciting images that represent the collector’s love of cinema, childhood nostalgia, and appreciation for the history of film.
Leslie has an unparalleled knowledge and expertise in film and animation art that makes her gallery one-of-a-kind, and her place in the art world essential and unique.
Artists Represented and Artist Commissions
Thanks to her decades of experience in the art world, Leslie has come to represent several renowned artists and their estates. With these close ties, she can offer custom commissions, rare originals from estate archives, and exclusive works directly from a number of exciting, creative artists or their families. As the exclusive representative of the John Alvin Estate, she has access to and can detail the provenance of hundreds of pieces of iconic film art. She also works with award-winning Disney, Looney-Tunes, and Hanna Barbera animator Willie Ito; in-demand film concept artist Jim Salvati, who worked on Harry Potter, Godzilla, and a host of other newer classics; and LucasFilm, Disney, and DreamWorks matte background painter of Lilo & Stitch, Star Wars and How To Train Your Dragon, William Silvers.
Known as one of the greatest film illustrator of all time, John Alvin's work includes the movie posters for E.T., Beauty and the Beast, Blade Runner, Aladdin, and over 200 other films. Leslie has personally represented his estate since his passing in 2008.
The lovable Willie Ito, known for his legendary work at Disney, Warner Bros. and Hanna-Barbera, has animated The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and even animated parts of the iconic spaghetti scene from Lady and the Tramp and Chuck Jones's What's Opera Doc.
Salvati's breathtaking oil paintings make him the go-to production concept artist in Hollywood. While his most famous work is for the Harry Potter film series, Jim continues to influence projects big and small at Disney, Warner Bros., Sony Pictures, and other studios.
Having worked with Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic on the Star Wars series as well as on Disney favorites like Mulan, Brave, and Lilo & Stitch, Silvers demonstrates his beautiful work as a matte background artist with his inspiring, detailed art.
